Christmas is celebrated on December25 to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ as the savior in Christianity, sopeople will devote and praying in the church. In addition, Christmas alsocelebrated as customs or cultural tradition in United States and Europeancountry. Chinese Lunar New Year or known as Spring Festival celebrated at firstdate of chinese lunar calendar, Spring Festival celebrated by Chinese people orethnic all around the world. During Spring Festival, Chinese people will gatherwith their family and giving red package to the child. Eid al-Fitr is the mostimportant day in Islam because Eid al-Fitr is the symbol of victory. Before,Eid al-Fitr, Moslem people will have “Ramadhan” celebrated on ninth month ofIslamic calendar.

As Foreign student who study in China, culturaldifferences are the most prominent thing in people lives, because of theexistence of a pluralistic society. The culture of the United States, Europeancountries, China, and Indonesia has its own uniqueness.

1. Studies on western culture country such as United States andEuropean countries

United States of America have anickname “A free country for all” because every people can do anything as longas it does not violate the law. The government of the United States guaranteesfor every people can celebrate the culture of their respective tribes orreligion. European countries except Russia have a same culture as United Statesespecially for Christmas. Because America before was part of British colony.

ChristmasDay is celebrated as a major festival and public holiday in countries around theworld, including many whose populations are mostly non-Christian. In addition, some people in UnitedStates and European countries celebrated Christmas as a holy day, commemorateborn of Jesus Christ as the savior for human. But some of them celebratedChristmas as tradition for family gathering and friends reunion. In the UnitedKingdom, they will have some festival called “boxing day” in December 26 afterChristmas.
